The Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (Fedhasa) says that while tourism enjoyed a busy December period, the industry had far from recovered in Durban and KwaZulu-Natal.
Fedhasa's Brett Tungay, who represents KZN and the Eastern Cape, spoke to News24 on Thursday, a few hours after eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda declared the December festive period a success.
However, Tungay was not as optimistic about the tourism sector, saying basic infrastructure shortfalls still plagued the industry, and international tourist numbers were low.
