Calling on police to help locals to protect their livestock, Ngqushwa Local Municipality Mayor Sanga Maneli condemned the murder of five men in a suspected vigilante attack near Peddie, who were believed to have been involved in stock theft incidents.
"We don't encourage people taking the law into their own hands," he said.
The men's bodies, which were burnt beyond recognition on the back of a bakkie, were found on Saturday evening along the R345 route in the Eastern Cape.
