Friday's weather: Minimum temperatures to dip to single digits in some provinces

Multiple provinces are expecting a drop in temperature, with minimums dipping as low as 5°C, according to the South African Weather Service.

Impact-based warning

A Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging waves, leading to the disruption of beachfront, harbour and port activities, can be expected along the KwaZulu-Natal coast.

Gauteng can expect cloudy conditions in the morning, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

It will be cloudy in the morning in Mpumalanga and Limpopo, with drizzle along the escarpment, accompanied by fog patches over the eastern and southern Highveld.

It will be partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the eastern Lowveld.

The North West will be cloudy in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm.

Cloudy conditions are expected in the Free State's eastern region at first, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and cool, but warm in places in the north.

The Northern Cape can expect fine and warm to hot temperatures, except in the south, where it will be cool.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, becoming strong in the evening.

Fine and cool to warm conditions are predicted for the Western Cape.

The wind along the coast will be light and variable over the eastern parts of the south coast in the morning.

A moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly wind is expected, reaching strong to gale along the south-west coast.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

The Eastern Cape will have morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise it will be fine and cool, but partly cloudy along the coast.

The wind along the west coast will be a light to moderate westerly, but north-westerly in the west, becoming south-westerly during the afternoon.

The wind along the east coast will be a moderate to fresh south-westerly, becoming a light to moderate north-westerly in the evening.

Fine and cool temperatures are expected in KwaZulu-Natal, becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly, reaching strong in places.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
