Wernich Botha, who brutally assaulted two men in Klerksdorp, North West, is not a "mad mercenary running around slitting throats and moering people", despite working for a company that operates as a security outfit in some of the most dangerous areas in the world.
Instead, a picture has emerged of a well-mannered maintenance manager at a secure camp for foreign nationals in Mogadishu, Somalia, who apparently snapped after allegedly finding his girlfriend in the arms of another man.
Botha would work out of the country for three months and return for several weeks, a common rotation for expatriate workers.
