Do not post photos of yourself at an airport on WhatsApp if you call in sick at work.

Hilda Nawa learnt this lesson the hard way.

Nawa, a lecturer at Westcol Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college in Randfontein on Gauteng's West Rand, was fired for gross dishonesty on 19 May 2022 after an allegation that she intentionally misled her supervisor on 27 November 2020 by sending him a WhatsApp message saying she was not fit for work "due to a medical condition" while she was allegedly at an airport.
