The City of Johannesburg's Economic Development MMC, Nomoya Mnisi, rejected accusations that she tried to funnel almost R1 million from the City's coffers to pay for an ANC Youth League (ANCYL) event.

"I have never given any CFO any instructions to make payment for the ANC Youth League conference. It was a shock and surprise [to see the allegations]," she told News24 on Wednesday.

Mnisi allegedly ordered Sipho Mzobe, who quit in February as the acting CFO of the Johannesburg Property Company (JPC), to make an illicit R867 482 payment for an ANCYL event, which was held in July at the Cedar Woods of Sandton.
