The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) described the woman who accused a man of raping her as "a jilted lover" and overturned his conviction and 20-year jail sentence.
Abel Sekoala, who was convicted in 2016 and released on bail pending his appeal, was too distraught to speak after learning that, following a lengthy legal battle, his conviction had been set aside on Wednesday.
His former co-accused, Ramasa Johannes Rathebe, remains behind bars.
