KZN South Coast boasts Blue Flag beaches despite some water woes

While there have been issues with sewage and beaches in both Durban and recently Cape Town, a tourism body in the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast says their waters are safe and have Blue Flag status.

eThekwini and the City of Cape Town have issued warnings and closed beaches in recent weeks as the festive season goes into full swing. Most of their warnings are related to sewage spills leading to dangerous E. coli levels in coastal cities.

In KZN, however, the South Coast, which still has concerns over tap water supply, says its beaches are ready for visitors.
