The live-in carer of an 83-year-old Paarl woman, as well as her alleged accomplice, will have to wait until January to hear whether they will be found guilty of murdering and robbing the woman.
Jillian Cloete and Mninawe Vango were charged for the murder of Joan Joyi - better known as "Aunty Joy" - in her home in Charleston Hill, Paarl, on 2 December 2020.
They are also charged of robbing her of jewellery, an overlocker and a TV set. At first, only Vango was arrested, as people rallied around Cloete, who claimed robbers had tied her up and put her in a different room during the ordeal.
