Reports by locals that two lions were spotted roaming through rural areas of Mpumalanga have been declared "fake news" by the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA).
MTPA spokesperson Simphiwe Shungube said there were reports of lions spotted between Mbangwane, Khombaso and Tsambokhulu, in the Nkomazi Local Municipality on Wednesday evening.
A team was dispatched to verify the sightings.
