No bread for the family. No porridge for grandchildren. No electricity in the cold. No taxi fare. No funeral cover payments.
This is the devastation some of the country's most vulnerable endured for days on end as they battled to receive their old age and disability grants via Sassa and Postbank.
Some 600 000 recipients either received a portion of their grants or no money, sending them into panic and heartbreak.
