A Grade 7 pupil from Laerskool Queenswood drowned during a school excursion at a resort in Olifantsfontein on the East Rand, the Gauteng education department said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Steve Mabona said the incident happened on 20 January, when the school went on an "approved one-day excursion" to Wag 'n Bietjie Camp Site.
