The discovery of R70 million worth of cocaine at the Port of Durban this week has been hailed as a step in the right direction in the country's war on drugs by the police and other government entities.
However, organised crime experts have warned state authorities to celebrate with caution amid prevailing gaps in South Africa's crime-fighting abilities.
The major drug bust was announced by the police on Wednesday, who said they had spent a month monitoring a vessel travelling from Brazil.
