Another highly publicised incident of alleged xenophobic violence rocked South Africa when Zimbabwean Elvis Nyathi was killed.

It gave rise to discourse around xenophobia in South Africa.

The incident in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, allegedly by a mob in Extension 1, resulted in the death of Nyathi, 43, last week.

The death of Nyathi comes on the back of campaigns against undocumented migrants in the country - some of it fanned by politicians as well as leaders of what has been described as "vigilante groups".
