A picturesque lookout on the Garden Route, where umpteen lives have been lost without foul play being suspected, may soon be dotted with signage offering help to people considering suicide at the cliff edge.
Voëlklip, which counts two mothers and their children among its casualties, is privately owned land linked by a gravel road that has, since 1958, been under the jurisdiction of the Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works.
Offering idyllic views of the surrounding bay, the area has a dark reputation as a go-to for people considering taking their own lives.
