Three cousins hired as cleaners at the George building that collapsed on Monday afternoon are believed to still be trapped underneath the rubble, and their families are at their wits' end.

Tiwonge Mhlango, 28, Ester Ngwira, 30, and Florence Kawonga, 29, who all hail from Malawi, were allegedly contracted by the Father and Son construction company and sent to work at the five-storey building that would have been an apartment block.

Their uncle, Bright Kayuni, claimed the family had been kept in the dark about whether the women were still underneath the rubble, or if they were among the seven people confirmed to have died when the building collapsed.
