A Cape Town man says he "stood at death's door" when eight armed men abducted him and his neighbour on Monday in Chatsworth, Malmesbury, after they accused the two of burglary at a property in a Dunoon informal settlement over the weekend.

Christopher Jones, 39, and Justin Persence, 20, were taken against their will in Malmesbury, dragged into a white Quantum minibus taxi on Monday evening.

They claim to have been assaulted inside the vehicle before being dragged to an undisclosed location in the Dunoon area, where scores of residents allegedly witnessed them being beaten by their attackers, one allegedly armed with an axe.
