Medical experts have voiced the need for medical coding in the public healthcare sector to assist with implementing the National Health Insurance (NHI) Fund.
This was heard on Thursday, during the first day of the SA Medical Association (SAMA) conference, which focused on critical health industry matters, such as decriminalising medical errors, the unemployment of junior doctors and the NHI Bill.
Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnosis, procedures, medical services and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes.
