WATCH: Dramatic CCTV footage of Durban garage cash heist | News24

News24 has obtained CCTV footage of a cash-in-transit heist at a petrol station in Durban. WATCH.

The heist conducted by two men using AK-47s took place early Saturday morning at an Engen petrol station on Peter Mokaba Road (know previously as Ridge Road) .

An alert sent to the neighbourhood via a WhatsApp group said: "7.44 do not go to Engen garage on Ridge Road shootout in progress".

A witness who lives nearby reported hearing the shots,

"Early this morning I heard a flurry of shots. Sounded like fireworks but clearly wasn't. I was told later that a cash van driver had been shot in the hand but otherwise there had not been any other serious injuries".

The petrol station located several hundred metres away from Dr John L. Dube House, the official presidential residence in Durban.
