A fire broke out on the slopes above Scarborough, Cape Town, in the early hours of Monday morning, and was spreading towards the Ocean View informal settlement. News24 Live went down the South Peninsula to investigate. Watch.
Look out for our follow-up video where we speak to nervous Ocean View residents, as well as Fire Manager for the Table Mountain National Park, Philip Prins - who referred to the blaze as 'uncontained'.
According to Prins, additional resources have been utilised to help tackle the fire, including City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services and Working on Fire. "Five choppers and two bombers (planes) have also been deployed," said Prins.
With the Cape fire season in full swing with unusually hot temperatures and strong winds, it's been a busy weekend for emergency fire services after blazes broke out on Signal Hill and Devil's Peak on Saturday.
