The thread of tweets began with commentary on a type of children's game in Singapore that promotes harmonious living and the right for all to elect representatives in the leadership of the country.
What sparked conversations online was a post where Zille wrote, "For those claiming legacy of colonialism was ONLY negative, think of our independent judiciary, transport infrastructure, piped water etc."
In 2016, Zille attracted the attention of Twitter users when she suggested that funding for four University of Cape Town students be stopped.
