News24 Live spoke to former Springbok hard man De Wet Barry - whose career overlapped with the late Jonah Lomu - to reflect on what it was like facing the All Black legend at Super Rugby and International level. Watch.
Lomu set a new benchmark for wings and finishers - his size and pace made him incredibly difficult to stop or bring down. De Wet describes how opponents would attempt to limit Lomu's influence in a game.
Lomu died somewhat unexpectedly in Auckland on Wednesday, at the age of 40. He had suffered from health problems since his retirement from the game in 2002 due to a rare kidney disease - nephrotic syndrome. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2004, and had been on dialysis treatment for the past 10 years.
