Kwara seals 6 petrol stations in IIorin

2012-12-21 11:05 IIorin - The Kwara Government on Thursday sealed up six petrol stations in IIorin for illegally adjusting their meters and selling above the N97 approved pump price.

The state's Commissioner for Commerce and Cooperatives, Alhaji Raji Mohammed, ordered the closure when he paid an inspection visit to some filling stations in the state capital.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the six affected stations are Olutola Nigeria Ltd, Mudram Oil, Jubet Petrol, Jason Jetron Oil, NIPCO Oil and Bakem Oill all in IIorin.

Mohammed said the action became necessary as a result of cheating of unsuspecting customers by petrol dealers.

The commissioner warned other filling stations in the state to desist from illegal activities, saying that any dealer found wanting would be prosecuted.

He said that monitoring of activities in filling stations would be continuous with a view to ensuring sanity.

Mohammed said that government took the action to enforce the law and protect members of the public from selfish marketers.
