Traffic builds up on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

2012-08-10 17:04
Lagos -  Traffic has started building up on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as worshippers head for the annual convention and 60th anniversary of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at the Redemption Camp on Km 46.

As at 1.30pm, both sides of the expressway leading to the Redemption Camp had started experiencing heavy traffic.

There were also pockets of delays at bad spots on the road at Olowotedo and Ibafo.

The situation may be compounded as an Islamic organisation, NASFAT, is also holding a programme at KM 40 while another major programme is also holding at the Prayer City of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles at Magboro.

The traffic is expected to get heavier as the day progresses. More worshippers are expected to leave their offices from 3p.m to the RCCG camp to attend the traditional Friday night Holy Ghost Service of the RCCG, which is said to be fastest growing Pentecostal church in Nigeria.

Worshippers started trooping into the camp from Monday to mark the 60th convention of the church, presided over by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, aka Daddy GO.

The convention will end on Sunday morning with a Farewell Service, but traffic is expected to be heaviest on Friday night and Saturday morning.

The events at NASFAT campground and Prayer City are also expected to contribute to traffic delays on the busy highway.
