My husband and I had a discussion the other day about when we would allow our son to have coffee. I said not before 13 but he thought a bit younger would be appropriate. He's only two so I think I have a good few years to make my case.
Caffeine is a naturally produced stimulant derived from the leaves and seeds from many plants but it is classified as a drug because it stimulates the central nervous system.
So it's not a great idea to introduce your child to high levels of caffeine (that can be found not only in coffee but in products like cola, black tea and certain chocolates) too early in their lives.
