Top tips for working from home

Do you wish you could start your own business so that you can have more time with your children, but have absolutely no idea where to begin?

Here is a list to help get you going:

A - Abort the idea that you don't have time.  When you build a business while still working full-time for someone else you're going to need to make time.  Evenings, weekends, whatever it takes.  Stop making excuses.

B - Blog.  Start a blog and get a following in your niche field.  Even if you don't have a business yet and you don't know anything.  Start researching, writing and gaining interest.  The people who follow you will be your first clients.

C - Collaborate.  Work with other people in your field towards a common goal.  They aren't your competition, they're your allies.

D - Dream.  What is your BIG dream?  If you had all the money in the world, what would you do?  Do THAT now.  Even if you start small.  Don't do what makes sense or what other people tell you to do.  Follow your heart.

E - Expect low days.  It won't always be a walk in the park, but it will definitely be worth it.

F - Followers and fans.  Social Media.  Be there.  Be active.  Connect.

G - Generate ideas.  Brainstorm.  Join a mastermind group.  Draw mind maps.  Think outside your box.

H - Have a plan.  Set goals.

I - Initiate contact.  Don't wait for people and customers to come to you.

J - Just do it.  Don't over-plan and over-think.  Go with your gut, with what feels right and take a chance.

K - Keep your promises.  Even when it's hard.

L - Launch your products like a genius.  Generate interest, give away free content related to your product, get people excited.  Then on launch day you will have people eagerly anticipating your creation and ready to buy.

M - Make it count.  When you're still working full time and are trying to get a business off the ground, time is limited.  Make sure you pack as much power into these hours as possible.

N - Network.  Go to business breakfasts, meet people, spread the word.  Hook up online.  Speak at events.

O - Operate from home.  Forget about finding a fancy office or hiring staff. Start small.  Start by yourself.  Keep your costs as low as possible.

P - Pitch your business.  Tell everyone about what you do.  Including the media.  Be the expert the magazines refer to (it's easier than you think).

Q - Quitting is not an option.  Only those who stick with it, make it.

R - Risks.  Take them.

S - Select.  Narrow your business idea to a niche topic or product.  Stand out with one thing.  Then ace it.  You will become an expert in that selective field.

T - Target market - Who are your customers?  Who will buy from you?  What are their needs?  Know the answers to these questions.

W - Website.  You need one.  Period.

X - X-Men, Wonder Woman...which super-hero are you?  You have a unique, super set of skills and are better at your "thing" than anyone else.  In the world of business, where do you excel naturally?  Use it.

Y - Why.  Know what your "why" is - the reason you want your own business, the purpose behind your dream.  This will keep you going through the rough patches.

Z - Zzzz.  Get your rest.  A big mistake many entrepreneurs make is to work flat-out, all the time.  You need a break every now and again or else you will burn out.  Even if you love what you are doing.
