Top South African cricket umpire Marais Erasmus ended a distinguished career at the highest level of the game when he stood in his last match, the second and final Test between New Zealand and Australia in Christchurch, which ended on Monday.
The 60-year-old Erasmus, a former Boland seamer who incidentally took career-best figures of 6/22 against New Zealand in a tour game in 1994, made his international umpiring debut in 2006 when the Proteas hosted Australia in a T20 international at the Wanderers, and went on to officiate in 82 Tests, 124 men's ODIs, 43 men's T20 internationals and 18 women's T20 internationals.
