The Newlands two-day Test debacle may hit the pockets of the embattled Western Province Cricket Association hard, but Cricket South Africa will eagerly await the International Cricket Council's (ICC) report on the ground's rather spicy surface, which saw a Test being wrapped up in 107 overs.

The second Test between South Africa and India was the fastest-completed match in the history of the game in terms of balls faced, with 642 balls across the four innings, beating the 656 from the South Africa/Australia Test in Melbourne in 1931/32.

It was the second time in Newlands' recent history, with the 23 wickets lost on the first day matching the 23 lost on the second day of the 2011 Test between South Africa and Australia.
