Cricket SA (CSA) chief executive Pholetsi Moseki has said Newlands head groundsman Braam Mong will not be hung out to dry for the two-day Test that took place at the stadium on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Newlands Test between South Africa and India assumed the record of the shortest-ever completed Test in terms of balls faced, with the 642 balls that completed the game surpassing the 656 from the South Africa/Australia Test in 1931/32 in Melbourne.
The 23 wickets lost on the first day equalled the number of wickets that fell in the November 2011 Test between South Africa and Australia.
