The SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc), along with some federations, have given the Tokyo 2020 Olympics the glass half-full view instead of a complete disaster.

Having dispatched its biggest ever Olympic contingent, Team SA only came back with three medals through Tatjana Schoenmaker's two in the breaststroke and Bianca Buitendag's surfing silver medal.

It was South Africa's worst Olympic medal return since Khotso Mokoena's lone long jump silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
