Comrades Marathon race director Rowyn James says they had to plan for two different types of races ahead of the 95th running of the world's oldest and largest ultra-marathon.

Like all sporting events, the Comrades wasn't spared the cancellation effects brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the race also having a field hospital that's generally the biggest at any sporting event, it became more susceptible to the pandemic than any other sporting event in the country.
