It's an inviting little window: a (long) weekend ahead with an opportunity to showcase domestically the perpetually battered, marginalised but once grand old beast that is the Currie Cup.

The fortnight's gap in United Rugby Championship activity, coupled with a lack of a South African presence in the imminent semi-finals of both the Champions and Challenge Cup, means the time-honoured provincial tournament briefly seizes back centre stage here.
