Tuks and UCT will meet in the much-anticipated Varsity Cup final after their wins in Friday's semi-finals in Pretoria.

UCT delivered a stellar comeback from being 15-0 down to comfortably beat NWU Eagles 54-36 in their semi-final on Friday.

NWU hooker Gustav du Rand scored his ninth try of the tournament with flyhalf Nivan Petersen's conversion giving the Eagles a 22-21 advantage at the break.

UCT hooker Josh van Vuuren scored a brace with his second maul try taking the Cape Town-side past the 50-point mark.

In the second semi-final at Tuks Stadium, Tuks fullback Zander du Plessis made history as he helped his home side defeat defending champions Maties 44-35.

Du Plessis broke the record for most points scored in an Varsity Cup season on Friday as he took his tally to 145, surpassing former UCT flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis' 136 points from the 2012 season.

Du Plessis, who won player of the match, landed four conversions and three penalties on Friday and is expected to his extend his record in Monday's final.

Tuks winger Stefan Coetzee and flyhalf David Coetzer made early inroads as the home side led 18-3 at half-time.

Maties, who defeated Tuks 34-12 in the 2019 Varsity Cup final, sprung into action in the final 20 minutes as wing Siba Xamlashe scored two point-of-origin tries.

Maties flank Mitchell Carstens' 77th-minute converted try reduced the deficit to nine points, but it was Tuks who progressed through to the Monday's final.

The UCT Ikeys and Tuks will meet at Tuks Stadium (Kick-off is at 19:00) in a repeat of the 2011 final, which was won by UCT.

UCT will be looking to lift the Varsity Cup for the third time, while Tuks are chasing their fourth title.
