The paths that Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber and scrumhalf Faf de Klerk have taken to get to this point, where the latter has reached 50 Test caps, is a testament to the rollercoaster ride they've been through.

De Klerk, who will be trotting on for his half-century of Tests on Sunday when the Boks play Scotland in Marseille, made his debut against Ireland on 11 June 2016, a game the Boks lost at Newlands.
