Springbok lock RG Snyman has two prominent scars on his left knee, with the surgical blemishes visible enough, even from an emotional perspective, to serve as a reminder of the path he's taken ahead of Sunday's Rugby World Cup opener against Scotland in Marseille.

Snyman, who has 28 Tests, played 23 between his 9 July 2018 debut against England at Ellis Park and the 2 November 2019 Rugby World Cup final against the same opponents in Yokohama.
