England flyhalf George Ford was six years old when Jannie de Beer drop-goaled a much-fancied England side out of the 1999 Rugby World Cup quarterfinals.

However, in Saturday's 27-10 against Argentina at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, he delivered drop-kicking masterclass of his own in a win that displayed the virtues of being clear-headed under pressure, while flirting with challenging De Beer's five drop kicks with three of his own.
