There is no need for South Africa to hunt down Hugo Broos. The Belgian arrived from Europe after being confirmed as Bafana Bafana boss in May 2021 on a five-year deal.
His first promise was that the sport-loving nation could "kill" him if the national team did not qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). To his comic relief, Bafana eased into the draw for the tournament.
Immediately, Broos revisited that sentiment and upgraded it to the point that South Africa could now "kill" him if Bafana did not advance beyond the group stages.
