South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan was coy on how much the Bafana Bafana players will be paid in bonuses, but said they'll be getting a share of the money earned from the third-place finish at the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The South African men's national football team arrived to rapturous and spellbinding applause at the OR Tambo International Airport early on Wednesday morning after unexpectedly, but deservingly, earning a bronze medal after beating the Democratic Republic of Congo 6-5 on penalties.

Jordaan and the SAFA hierarchy have come under fire in the recent past for their inability to deal with the issue of performance bonuses at tournaments effectively. An example is last year's pre-World Cup standoff with the women's national football team that required the Motsepe Foundation's intervention to ensure the players would get something for their efforts.
