Van Wyk to play for Dolphins

Cape Town - Knights stalwart Morné van Wyk will continue his cricket career at the Durban-based Dolphins franchise next year, the Volksblad website reports.

The 33-year-old wicketkeeper/batsman played 16 seasons for the Free State side, starting when he was still at school.

Van Wyk played 13 ODIs and three T20 games for the Proteas but was never able to cement his place in the national side.

A shoulder injury has seen him play only one match for the Knights this season, but he believes he has a good four or five years of cricket left in him.

"It will be a big challenge and something different for my family," he said.

"If I don't do it now, then I'll probably never do it. I also don't want to look back later and have regrets for not trying it.

"I hope to also make a contribution there."

His brother, Divan, has represented the Dolphins as opening batsman over the last few seasons. However, it doesn't look like the two will play together in Durban, with Divan apparently set to return to Bloemfontein.
