New CEO for EP Cricket

Port Elizabeth - Eastern Province Cricket has appointed former Dolphins executive Jesse Chellan as its new CEO, the board said in a statement on Thursday.

"We were very impressed with the calibre of applicants for the CEO position and are delighted to have Jesse on board," said EP Cricket president Donovan May.

"He has served in a similar position previously which augurs well for the future of cricket in the province and in particular EP Cricket."

Chellan was appointed CEO of KZN Cricket and the Dolphins in 2009 and his passion and drive for the game led him to a very successful career with the cricket franchise.

"It is an honour and a privilege to be appointed to this position. I would like to thank the Board of EP Cricket for their confidence and trust. In particular I would like to thank Donovan May, Mark Williams and Haroon Lorgat," Chellan said.

"Cricket in the Eastern Cape and at St George's Park are long standing national assets and together with the good people employed at EP, we will strive to build on this legacy."

The board also thanked Tono Mle and Saleem Mukuddem who stepped into the role of Interim CEO while the process of securing a full-time CEO was ongoing.
