East London - Gerhardt Abrahams hit his maiden List A century to guide the Knights to a 47-run victory over the Warriors at Buffalo Park on Friday night.
Abrahams had hinted at some form on Wednesday when his 62 against the Cobras dug him out of the batting ditch that had seen him register back-to-back ducks at the start of the One-Day Cup.
On Friday he made it count as his 123 from 133 balls (9 fours, 6 sixes) took the Knights to a total of 266 for six, which the Warriors rarely looked like chasing as they were bowled out for 219.
The other key player was captain Werner Coetsee, who had indicated that it was time for his team to be more pro-active after taking just four points from their opening four games.
He duly led from the front with the ball, taking key wickets throughout the Warriors innings to record figures of 4 for 39 in 10 overs.
Such was the regularity at which Abrahams found the boundary that the Knights were able to remain in control of the match throughout.
There was a brief moment of concern when Simon Harmer struck twice in two overs to reduce the Knights to 119 for four, but, with Abrahams responding positively, his new partner, Obus Pienaar , was able to find his feet and the pair went on to add 113.
Abrahams was eventually trapped lbw in the 47th over by Lundi Mbane, who finished with 4 for 47 in 10 overs.
The Warriors opted for a cautious approach to their reply in a bid to set a platform that could be taken advantage of later on, but the ploy failed when wickets went down and they struggled to generate any lasting momentum.
Coetsee claimed the key wicket of Colin Ingram cheaply, while Corne Dry made the major breakthrough when he dismissed the in-form Jon-Jon Smuts for 76.
Coetsee then picked up three wickets in six deliveries to put paid to the Warriors hopes, and lift the Knights up to fourth on the table.
