Warriors chase 327 to beat Titans

Cape Town - The Warriors chased down 327 to beat the Titans by two wickets in the first match of the Momentum One Day Cup at Centurion on Friday.

The Warriors won the toss and opted to field, but some solid Titans batting throughout their innings left the visitors with a tough run chase.

Titans opener Mangaliso Mosehle anchored the innings on his way to 49 while Dean Elgar constructed a well-played 57.

But the innings belonged to Grant Thomson who finished undefeated on 98 from 107 balls, while Qaasim Adams smashed 65 from just 39 to take the Titans to a healthy 327/4 from their 50 overs.

But the Warriors time their run-chase to perfection and a delightful century from opener JJ Smuts (101 off 103) set the tone.

There was help in the middle order from Yaseen Vallie (52) and Simon Harmer (42), but in the end it was Andrew Birch's undefeated 55 from 28 balls that got the warriors over the line.

Scores in brief:

Titans 327/4 (Thomson 98*, Adams 65*, Elgar 57, Mosehle 49, Harmer 2/54)

Warriors 329/8 in 49.5 (Smuts 101, Birch 55*, Vallie 52, Harmer 42, Dala 3/69)

Warriors won by 2 wickets
