Pakistan lose Taufeeq early

Dubai - Pakistan, chasing 261 to win, were 32-1 at lunch on the fifth and final day of the second Test against New Zealand in Dubai on Friday.

Opener Taufeeq Umar was dismissed for four before Shan Masood (11) and Azhar Ali (13) were unbeaten at the interval after an extended two-and-a-half hour session due to Friday prayers.

Pakistan still need 229 runs to win, or to bat out 58 overs in the last two sessions for a draw and keep their 1-0 lead intact in the three-match series.

Pakistan won the first Test by 248 runs in Abu Dhabi.

Ross Taylor hit 104, his 12th hundred, as New Zealand declared their second innings at 250-9.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah grabbed 5-79 and left-armer Zulfiqar Babar fetched 4-96.
