The Proteas are currently at the top of the table after winning both of their matches, and will secure a place in Saturday's final with a win against Australia.
"It was an interesting game of cricket," he said of the match between Zimbabwe and Australia.
"We are obviously happy for our neighbours, Zimbabwe.
"They played a good game of cricket and to get a win like that is rewarding for them.
"It opens up the tournament a little bit; anything can still happen, so we will need to play a good game of cricket against Australia to make sure we book our spot in the final.
"We all know that Zimbabwe is a dangerous team, especially in this format of the game," De Villiers continued.
"That is the nature of the game, if you are not on top of your game or in good form you bring a team like Zimbabwe into play."
Meanwhile, Morné Morkel and JP Duminy will undergo scans to determine the extent of their respective injuries, which recently flared up during the current tour of Zimbabwe.
Morkel is suffering from a chronic rotator cuff strain to the right shoulder, which ruled him out of the Triangular series match against Zimbabwe on Friday, while Duminy is struggling with tendinopathy (inflamed tendon) to his left knee.
"Morné and JP have been struggling with chronic injuries that have flared up in the last few weeks" explained Proteas team manager, Mohammed Moosajee.
"We will be sending them in for scans to ascertain the extent of the injuries and to determine what further action will need to be taken.
"Both players are key cogs of the ODI side, especially for the remainder of the current triangular series, and have been receiving intensive rehab from our physiotherapist, Brandon Jackson.
"We have an important six months coming up with the World Cup in sight, it’s important for the players to be fully fit."
