Rilee joins Proteas injury list

Cape Town - Knights batsman Rilee Rossouw is the latest Proteas cricketer struggling with injury.

Netwerk24 reports that Rossouw underwent a scan earlier this week which revealed a hairline fracture on the fourth finger of his right hand.

He played with the injury during the Proteas' recent tour to Australia and the possibility exists that he could play for the Knights in their RAM SLAM T20 clash against the Cape Cobras in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

Knights coach Sarel Cilliers said they will further evaluate the injury on Friday.

The Knights' medical team has been in talks with the Proteas' medical staff regarding the injury.

"They will decide what is the best road for Rilee to follow. He is a World Cup candidate and you don't want to take any chances."

Rossouw joins a long list of Proteas players currently on the mend.

AB de Villiers (ribs), Faf du Plessis (hip), Imran Tahir (hamstring), Vernon Philander (shoulder), JP Duminy (knee) and Aaron Phangiso (hand) are the other injured Proteas players.
