Boston - Marcel Hug of Switzerland has deprived South Africa's Ernst van Dyk of an 11th Boston Marathon wheelchair title on Monday.
Hug won the race in an unofficial time of 1:29:53, to claim his first Boston win, more than six and a half minutes ahead of Van Dyk.
The 28-year-old Hug finished fourth last year.
Defending champion Van Dyk had to scramble to finish a mere second ahead of Japan's Masazumi Soejima, who finished in a time of 01:36:28.
Soejima, who won the title in 2007, in turn finished a second ahead of compatriot Kota Hokinoue, to claim the final place on the podium.
Hokinoue finished second in 2014.
