Le Clos impresses in Barcelona

Barcelona - Olympic gold medallist Chad le Clos has added the 200m freestyle silver medal to his medal tally on the second night of the Barcelona leg of the Mare Nostrum series.

Le Clos won the gold medal in the men’s 200m butterfly and bronze in the 50m butterfly on Day 1.

Sebastiaan Verschuren of the Netherlands won the freestyle event in a time of 1:54.90 with Le Clos following behind in 1:55.11 while Danish swimmer Viktor Bromer grabbed bronze in 1:55.46.

The South African on Wednesday posted the second fastest time this season in the 200m butterfly clocking 1:54.90 in a new championship record.

Daiya Seto of Japan, who holds the world-leading time of 1:54.46, finished behind Le Clos in a time of 1:55.11 with Danish swimmer Viktor Bromer taking third with 1:55.46.
