Cheetahs invite Boela to train

Cape Town - After his invitation to train with the Springbok squad in Stellenbosch, the Cheetahs have moved to include Boela Abrahams in their Super Rugby training squad.

The Cheetahs last week named a training group ahead of next year's Super Rugby competition.

They picked three scrumhalves - Sarel Pretorius, Shaun Venter and Tian Meyer - but the Griffons' Abrahams has now also been added, Volksblad reports.

Abrahams was last Sunday invited to the Springboks’ training camp in Stellenbosch ahead of their year-end tour to Europe.

The diminutive 26-year-old, who according to SA Rugby's website is 1.68m and 71kg, kicked a late drop goal to help the Griffons beat the Valke 23-21 in last week's Currie Cup First Division final.

He will now get a chance to impress Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske and perhaps play himself into Super Rugby contention.
