EP Kings to try out Plan B

Port Elizabeth - EP Kings coach Carlos Spencer says they will work on their "Plan B" when they tackle the Free State Cheetahs in a friendly game in Cradock on Friday (15:00 kick-off).

The Kings played an extravagant running game when they thumped SWD 78-32 recently, but Spencer said they'll opt for a different approach against the men from Bloemfontein.

"We'll kick more," he told Die Burger. "I have to see how we kick and how we respond when doing it. It's important that we also work on the organisation of our defence when counter-attacks are launched against us when we kick."

The halfback pair of Tobie Botes and George Whitehead will therefore be in the spotlight on Friday.

The Kings start their Currie Cup campaign at home against Western Province next Friday.
