Ex-NFL player on trial at Sharks

Cape Town - Former American football player Taylor Gentry is set for a trial at the Sharks.

According to America’s Rugby News website, Gentry has signed a three-month contract with the Durbanites as they prepare for the upcoming Absa Currie Cup.

Gentry, 25, will arrive in Durban on Monday and could be offered a full-time deal should he impress the Sharks top brass.

Gentry is listed as 1.88m and 111kg and has played mostly at prop but could also feature at flank.

Gentry briefly featured for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs after he finished his college career at North Carolina State University.

He turned his attentions to rugby a little over three years ago.

The Sharks open their Currie Cup campaign away to the Pumas in Nelspruit on Friday (18:00 kick-off).
